Last night I heard a beautiful
poem about love
a cowboy to his woman
the one he called his home
Every breath she took
seemed to bring his soul to life
And everything he did
he did for his wife
The poet who read it
he sent it out to me
saying someday some cowboy
might make me feel that free
But if someone
would love me like that
I’d tear down my walls
Turn in my hats
Surrender the war
Learn to relax
Stop scheming of smashing things up with a bat
Be who I am
Be done with the act
If someone would love me like that
Like that
Like that
Love me like that
People say love is gentle and kind
That’s not the type I’m so anxious to find
The love I’ve known did not start out true
The fraudulence twisted my heart through and through
I want a lover courageous and real
who’ll pick up my map steady the wheel
and get drunk on devotion not on the drink
who trusts what I feel and knows how I think
The love that I give
is brighter than the sun
my heart is steady beating
waiting for the one
Who’ll say “I am the one
who loves you like that
So tear down your walls
Turn in your hats
Surrender the war
Learn to relax
Stop scheming of smashing things up with a bat
Be who you are
Be done with the act
‘cause I am the one who loves you like that
Like that
Like that
I will love you like that
Like that
Like that
I will love you like that”
And the day I wake up
with that person next to me
is the day I’ll start believing
love can set you free
And I’ll turn to the one
who loves me like that
Tear down my walls
Turn in my hats
Surrender the war
Learn to relax
Stop scheming of smashing things up with that bat
Be who I am
Be done with the act
In the arms of the one who loves me like that
Like that
Like that
Do you love me like that?
Like that
Like that
Can you love me like that?
Like that
Like that
Like that
Love me like that
Love Me Like That
